Conferences and Seminars

Arbitrators of ICAC generally participate in all the major conferences on International Commercial Arbitration held in Russia and abroad.

In Russia the most important conferences on this subject are held with the participation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.

In October 2007 the International scientific-practical conference “International Commercial Arbitration in Russia: the Common Pattern of Development and Features of Modern Practice”, dedicated to the 75-th anniversary of the ICAC, was held in Congress Hall of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. The representatives of international organizations and arbitration centers from 29 countries, including heads and members of arbitration centers at the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Commonwealth of Independent States, legal science members and heads of leading Russian law offices and international law firms participated in this Conference.

The scientific-practical conference “International Commercial Arbitration in Russia in the context of globalization of economic development” was held in October 2008. It was dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Law of the Russian Federation “On International Commercial Arbitration” and the 50th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (New York Convention).

From 4th to 5th June 2009 an International Law Conference on “Commercial Contracts and Dispute Resolution During the Economic Crisis” took place at the Conference Hall of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. The conference was held by Capital Business Events, LTD with the organizational support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and the Anglo-Russian Law Association (ARLA).

Recommendations for effectively overcoming of consequences of international economic crisis in the contract work of the companies work were made during the conference, the themes of minimization of legal risks in the process of concluding and executing contracts were highlighted, the best legal remedies to protect the interests of bona fide parties in the commercial life were considered. A particular attention was paid to the use of conciliation procedures with the participation of mediator (mediation) to resolve commercial disputes and problems of settling international commercial disputes in arbitration tribunals.

On June 19, 2009 in association with the ICC Russia an International Law Conference “Actual Issues of Legal Regulation in the Present-Day Conditions: an International Expertise, the Russian Practice” took place. The program of the Conference included three sessions devoted to the development processes of civil legislation in Russia, ways of settling disputes and enforcement of obligations, and the organizational principles and arbitral proceedings in the International Court of Arbitration of the ICC, the ICAC at Russian CCI, the features of application of international legal documents.

The Center of Arbitration and Mediation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation jointly with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of CIS countries annually held conferences and seminars on International Commercial Arbitration for business communities in these countries, where the features of the dispute resolution in the ICAC are covered.

Over the past few years the same events took place in Almaty, Ashgabat, Bishkek, Dushanbe, Kiev, Minsk, Tashkent. A number of forums was held in the form of «round table» in the forum of business communities of Russia and the CIS countries.
