Legal Status of Arbitrators of the ICAC

Disputes are resolved by arbitrators at the ICAC. Arbitrators are either chosen by the parties or appointed in accordance with the procedures set forth in the ICAC Rules. Arbitrators are not representatives of the parties.

Arbitrators must have necessary expertise, be independent, and impartial. These qualifications are safeguarded by the right of recusation.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation approves the List of Arbitrators, who are appointed for a five-year term. The present List of Arbitrators was approved by CCI President’s order No. 49, of June 3, 2005.

This is a reference list providing details of 181 arbitrators, more than a third of whom are foreign nationals. Parties are entitled to elect arbitrators outside this list, too.
