International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation activities in 2011

During the 2011 the ICAC registered 252 new claims from companies of 39 countries of the world.

The origin and the number of parties were as follows: Germany – 17; Ukraine — 37; Kazakhstan — 15, China – 13, Belorussia – 11, Cyprus — 9, USA, Uzbekistan – 8, Italy, Mongolia, Lithuania, British Virgin Islands - 5, United Kingdom, Check Republic, Sweden, Serbia, Indonesia, Finland, the Netherlands – 3; Moldova, Panama, India, Republic of Seychelles– on 2, Monaco, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Australia, Spain, Pakistan, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Egypt, France, Israel, Jersey, Korea, Slovakia, Japan – 1

Companies from Western and Eastern Europe countries prevailed among foreign parties — 55 companies altogether and CIS – 79 companies altogether.

Russian companies were involved in 281 disputes. Also ICAC settled 18 disputes, in which both parties were non-Russian companies.

An analysis of the subject-matter of disputes shows that during 2011, like in the years before, majority of disputes related to international sale of goods — 162 disputes (67,7 %).

The rest of cases were concerned with the following relations:

• 29 (12,1%) work and services contracts;
• 9 (3,2 %) building and construction;
• 4 (1,7%) lease agreement;>
• 4 (1,7%) loan and credit agreements;
• 2 (0,8%) disputes from commercial representation and agency.

Disputes from other groups of international transactions (lease, insurance, security transactions, bank guarantee and other) amounted to 0,5 – 4,6 % per each group or about 12,8% altogether.
